Star Doily

size "0" (zero) steel hook
White Baby Soft (fingering weight) yarn

notes:

-beg ch-3 always counts as 1st dc
double treble crochet (dtr) - yo 3x, draw up a loop (yo, draw through 2 loops) 4x; st completed
decrease (dec) - draw up a loop in ea of next 2 sts, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook

Sample on right is done as patterns calls for, without contrasting border.

finished size with size '30' thread is nice for a coaster, with size '10' thread pattern yields a roughly 5 1/2" doily

dtr – double treble crochet – yo 3x, insert hook where indicated, draw up a loop, (yo, draw through 2 loops) until 1 loop remains on hook

pattern:

ch 4, join w/ sl st to form ring
Rnd 1: sl st in ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch
Rnd 2: ch 4, (dc, ch 1) in ea dc around, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch; 12 ch-sps
Rnd 3: ch 5, (dc, ch 2) in ea dc around, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch; 12 ch-sps
Rnd 4: sl st in next sp, ch 1, 3 sc in same sp and in ea sp around, sl st in 1st sc; 36 sts

Optional embellishments:
Pin to blocking board (trust me)
With Green, work vines (surface work -with chain stitches, and occasional slip stitches to keep in place) and leaves randomly on doily (I crocheted the leaves separately and sewed them on.)
With floral color, works rosebuds separately and sew on where desired.

Leaf pattern: ch 4, work 3 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, work cluster, finish off

Rosebud pattern: ch 21, dc in 5th ch from hook, *sk 1 ch, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch, rep from * across. Finish off. Keeping the ends to the outside, roll piece up to form rose bud. Use loose ends to fasten piece in coil.


Purple Passion

notes:

initial ch 7 may need to be adjusted in order to accommodate all the dc’s in Rnd. 1

ch 7 loosely, join w/ sl st to form ring

sl st in ring, ch 3, 38 dc in ring, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch
Rnd 2: sl st bet first 2 dc, ch 4, (dc, ch 1) bet all dc around, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch
Rnd 3-4: sl st in 1st ch-sp, ch 4, (dc, ch 1) in ea ch-sp around, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch
Rnd 5: sl st in 1st ch-sp, ch 4, (dc, ch 1) 3 more times in same ch-sp, (dc, ch 1) 4x in ea ch-sp around, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch

Piece may be finished off at this point to make a coaster.

For doily,
Repeat Rnds. 3&4 until piece lays flat again, the repeat Rnd. 5
Repeat until piece reaches desired size.

Finish off.
Weave in ends.
