Envelope Clutch



materials:
size "I" hook
worsted weight yarn in 2 colors
one large sew-on snap
one decorative button
yarn needle
other needle and thread if you need it for your snap and button

pattern:
ch 2
Row 1: in 2nd ch from hook (hdc, sc, hdc), ch 1, turn
Row 2-20: (hdc, sc) in 1st st, (hdc in sc, sc in hdc) across, hdc in last sc, (sc, hdc) in last st, ch 1, turn
Finish off.

Fold triangle like an envelope & sew in place.

Flap:
w/ accent color
Row 1: join w/ sc at edge of back of bag, sc across back, ch 1, turn; 19 sts
Row 2: sc across, ch 1, turn
Row 3: dec, 15 sc, dec, ch 1, turn
Row 4: dec, 13 sc, dec, ch 1, turn
Row 5: dec, 11 sc, dec, ch 1, turn
Row 6: dec, 9 sc, dec, ch 1, turn
Row 7: dec, 7 sc, dec, ch 1, turn
Row 8: dec, 5 sc, dec, ch 1, turn
Row 9: dec, 3 sc, dec, ch 1, turn
Row 10: dec, sc, dec
Finish off.
Weave in all ends.

Fig. 4 - Attach one side of snap to inside of flap opposite button, and other side to front of bag.

Granny Square Drawstring Bag




materials:

size "H" hook
3.5 oz skein Soft Black or any other color

notes:

drawstrings will line up on one side of bag and be opposite each other on the other side (this will make more sense when you get there)

pattern:

squares:

you will need 14 3-round granny squares

layout:

with right sides in, join squares with sc

to form bag:

with right sides in, (bag will be inside out) sc together the sides labeled with matching numbers (squares can also be sewn together)

turn bag right side out

border:

join with sc to top of bag
Rnd 1: sc around in back loops only, join with sl st to first sc
Rnd 2: ch 1, sc in same st as joining sl st, sc around, sl st in 1st sc
Rnd 3: ch 4 (beg ch 3, plus ch 1), sk next sc, (1 dc, ch 1) in next sc and in each sc around, join with sl st to 3rd beg ch; drawstring will be woven through this row
Rnd 4: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each st (including ch sts) around, join with sl st to 1st sc
Rnd 5: ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each sc around, join with sl st to 3rd beg ch
finish off
weave in loose ends
flatten bag

drawstring: (make 2)

ch 120
starting on left side of bag, weave ch through dc mesh created in border Rnd. 3 (in one space, out the next), sl st in first ch, and in each ch around. after sl st in last ch, sl st in 1st ch again
tie loose ends together
weave in ends
repeat for second drawstring, weaving this one in from opposite side of bag
