Oh! Danny Boy Doily

size 0 (zero) hook

notes:
to work shell: (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same st

to work no-ch sc (no chain single crochet): draw up a loop in same sp as prev. st (this forms your ch st), yo and draw through 1st loop on hook (this is same as drawing up the first loop of a sc), yo and draw through both loops (this finishes your st)
- consecutive no-ch sc are started by inserting your hook in the first loop draw up for the prev. st

patterns:

Rnd 1: ch 3, * (dc, tr, ch 2, tr, dc) in ring, dc in ring, rep from * around omitting last dc in 5th rep, sl st in 3rd beg ch; 5 ch-sps
Rnd 2: sl st in next 2 sts, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in ch-sp, [sl st in ea st to next ch-sp, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in ch-sp)] around, sl st in next 2 sts, sl st to finish off in next st; 5 ch-sps
Rnd 3: join w/ sc to any ch-sp, 8 no ch sc, * sc in next ch-sp, 8 no ch sc, rep from * around, join w/ sl st to starting sc; 45 sc

* Hilo, pronounce hee-low, is a smaller variety of pineapple, since this doily utilizes small pineapples to form a star, I thought this was a very appropriate name when Lisa suggested it.
